Southwest Washington Center of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

History of SWCDHH

Established in 1991, the Southwest Washington Center of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is the culmination of a vast grassroots effort. Individuals from Washington's second largest community of Deaf and Hard of Hearing people banded together to obtain the necessary funding to set up their own center.

Many Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind people experience daily barriers to communication, access to public and private services, employment and housing.

SWCDHH continues to address these needs. Staff, Volunteers, and community members work together to ensure access to all citizens.
